About Common Waves Cic
Common Waves CIC is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, and it describes itself as a community arts organisation. Based in Weston-super-Mare, the group runs its work from a community arts space called The Common Room.
The organisation says it aims to counter growing division by bringing together people from different communities to form one shared creative community. It focuses on elevating stories that often go untold and on giving a voice to people who are rarely heard, placing diverse personal experiences alongside one another.
Projects vary in length, from short activities to medium and long-term programmes. They are intended to build practical skills and confidence among those who take part. Outputs mentioned include books, exhibitions and performances.
Common Waves says it works closely with partner organisations to understand the needs and wishes of the people they support. Projects are then shaped around those needs rather than following a fixed template.
The group states that its approach is guided by three principles: compassion, creativity and collaboration. People interested in working with the organisation can get in touch through its online form or visit The Common Room in person.
